Managing Check-In & Check-Out Without PIN Verification

Learn how to customize PIN verification requirements for Check- In and Check-Out activities in AfterSchool HQ.

Need more flexibility with your Check-In and Check-Out process? AfterSchool HQ now offers a much smoother process, giving providers more flexibility when managing the check in and check out process.

With this feature, providers can choose how PIN verification is handled, including the option to disable PIN verification entirely. 

Available PIN Verification Options

Always Require PIN

PIN verification is required for all Check-In and Check-Out activities.


Require PIN for Check-In & Check-Out CICO Activities Only

PIN verification is only required during designated CICO activities.


Never Require PIN

PIN verification is disabled entirely for the provider.

 

1. Open Account Settings

Navigate to Account & Settings → Settings

💡Tip: Make sure you are logged in as an Owner or Admin user to access organization-level Check-In/Out settings.

2. Locate Check In/Out Settings

Scroll down to the Check In/Out section.

3. Select Your PIN Preference

Use the dropdown menu to choose your preferred PIN verification option:

  • Always Require PIN
  • Require PIN for Check-In & Check-Out (CICO) Activities Only
  • Never Require PIN

💡Tip: Choose the option that best fits your operational workflow and security needs.

4. Review the Legal Acknowledgement

A legal acknowledgement prompt will appear before the setting can be saved.

⚠️ Carefully review the legal acknowledgement before saving changes, as this impacts how student verification is handled.

5. Save Your Changes

Confirm and save your updated settings.

💡Tip: After saving, we recommend testing the Check-In and Check-Out process to ensure the updated settings work as expected for your staff and families.

Important Notes

⚠️ Legal acknowledgement is required
This setting must be updated directly by the provider. AfterSchool HQ staff cannot make this change on behalf of providers.


⚠️ District notifications are automatic
For district accounts, confirmation emails will be sent to both the District Admin and Account Owner whenever this setting is changed.


⚠️ Future update coming soon
A future enhancement will allow users checking in through the Regular Kiosk or QR Code to verify using their account email address instead of a phone number and PIN. This functionality is not yet available.

Q: Can AfterSchool HQ Support change this setting for me?

A: No. Because legal acknowledgement is required, providers must update this setting directly within their account.
