Understanding Registration Type Availability During Account Creation
Learn how registration options are displayed during account creation and why certain options may be unavailable for specific activities.
Overview
When beginning the registration process, families are asked who is creating the account. Depending on the activity's eligibility requirements, one or more registration options may be unavailable.
With this update, registration options that do not apply to an activity are no longer hidden. Instead, they remain visible but are greyed out with a brief explanation indicating why they cannot be selected.
This provides a clearer registration experience by helping families understand which account types are available and why certain options cannot be used.
Available Registration Types
The account creation screen may display the following options:
- Parent / Guardian
- Student (Under 18)
- Adult Participant
💡 Tip: Parent / Guardian is always available, ensuring there is always a valid way to begin the registration process.
How Registration Options Work
Registration options are automatically enabled or disabled based on the activity's eligibility requirements.
Student (Under 18)
The Student (Under 18) option will be unavailable when the activity does not allow minors to register.
Families will see the following message:
Not available — this activity does not allow minors to register.
Adult Participant
The Adult Participant option will be unavailable when an activity is intended only for students under 18, such as activities with:
- A maximum participant age below 18, or
- A maximum grade below 9th grade.
Families will see the following message:
Not available — this activity is for students only.
💡 Tip: Activities that allow participants in 9th grade or higher will continue to allow Adult Participant registration, since some students may be 18 years or older while still enrolled in those grades.
Activities Without Restrictions
If an activity has no age or grade restrictions, all registration options will remain available.
⚠️ Important Information
Greyed-out registration options:
- Cannot be selected.
- Cannot be clicked.
- Cannot be used to complete registration.
- Display a message explaining why they are unavailable.
This ensures families always understand their available registration choices before creating an account.
