Understanding your 1099-K from Stripe

If your organization accepts payments through AfterSchool HQ, Stripe, our payment processor, may send you a tax form called a 1099-K. This article explains what that means, what to expect, and where to find additional information if needed.

Why am I receiving information about a 1099-K?

Stripe is the company that processes online payments for AfterSchool HQ. Stripe is required by the IRS to report certain payment activity processed through its platform.

When families pay your organization through the AfterSchool HQ platform, Stripe handles those payments. Because of this, Stripe may issue a 1099-K summarizing that activity.

Stripe may email you to:

  • Verify or update your business and tax information

  • Choose electronic (paperless) delivery for your tax form

  • Notify you when your 1099-K is ready to download

These emails come directly from Stripe. This is a standard part of accepting online payments through a third-party processor.

What is a 1099-K?

A 1099-K is a tax form that shows the total payments processed for your organization through Stripe. Stripe uses this form to report qualifying payment activity. Receiving a 1099-K is common for organizations that accept online payments.

What do I need to do?

Most organizations only need to follow the steps in Stripe’s email if prompted.

We recommend:

  1. Watch for emails from Stripe (check spam if needed)

  2. Confirm your business and tax information when asked

  3. Opt into electronic delivery for faster access (optional)

  4. Download your 1099-K from Stripe once it’s available

No action is required inside AfterSchool HQ.
